Policy and Research

Ecometrica undertakes policy related research in themes relevant to climate change and ecosystem management. We also compile technical papers summarising recent technical or market developments and “best practice” methods.

Our approaches include critical analysis of policy options, interpretation of quantitative data and examination of new methods.

Much of our work in this area is carried out in collaboration with researchers from academic institutions, and each year we support a number of Masters and Undergraduate research topics.

Current work includes:

  • Review of methods used to assess Indirect Land Use Change associated with the expansion of Biofuels
  • Examination of financial additionality within the Clean Development Mechanism (with Hoi Wen, University of Edinburgh)
  • Enquiry into future developments for carbon offsetting
  • Testing of models estimating global carbon sequestration and bioenergy potential using regional case studies (with Imperial College, Bristol University, IIASA and UK Forest Research)
