Senior Ecosystem Analyst

Nicholas is a forest ecologist specialising in the quantification of carbon stocks and biodiversity in forestry and land-use projects. He has provided technical assistance to the development of Plan Vivo, and Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) projects in Africa and Southeast Asia, including reduced emissions deforestation and forest degradation (REDD), improved forest management (IFM), and quantification of carbon sequestration from agroforestry. Nicholas completed a PhD at the University of Leeds where his research investigated the impacts of selective logging on biodiversity in Borneo, and the potential for carbon sequestration in regenerating forests. Prior to this Nicholas worked as a technical consultant on forestry and land-use projects in Tanzania, the Philippines, Brazil, and Indonesia, and obtained a Masters degree in Ecology and Environmental Management from the University of York.
