Melissa Fedrigo

GIS Analyst

Melissa has a broad range of experience in both remote sensing (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) holding positions such as assistant GIS coordinator in municipal government, and both field and research assistant for environmental GIS, forestry, and health research. Her past positions are from a variety of industries which give Melissa a broad understanding of the multiple applications of RS and GIS for further specialization through education.

Melissa obtained a BSc in Physical Geography and GIS from Queen’s University, Canada specializing in determining LIDAR point densities for elevation modelling in dense forest canopies. After completing her BSc, Melissa continued her education earning a Masters degree with Distinction in GIS from the University of Edinburgh. Her research focused on African mountainous forests and the impact of sloped terrain on radar backscatter for estimating aboveground biomass. The majority of Melissa’s research has broadly focused on forestry and environmental applications.
