Our Services

Ecometrica provides the following independent, science-based information products and services:

  • Assessment of corporate and product greenhouse gas emissions
  • Assessment and monitoring of land use change, deforestation, carbon stock changes, ecosystem viability, bioenergy resources and other ecosystem functions
  • Monitoring the delivery of ecosystem services
  • Policy advice based on ecometric analysis and interpretation
  • Combined economic and ecometric studies
  • Training and technology transfer

Our Approach

We aim to provide the best quality ecometric information, faster and more efficiently through the development and use of standardised methods and processes. We build tools and provide training to improve the accessibility of useful information, particularly in developing countries, and contribute to public knowledge and policy formulation through open-access publications.

Strategic Partners and Networks

The University of Edinburgh is Ecometrica’s main strategic partner. It provides state-of-the-art scientific methods, GIS and remote sensing capabilities, access to research students and staff, and international academic collaboration and review. Scientific collaborators beyond The University of Edinburgh include Imperial College, Oxford University, Lawrence-Berkeley National Laboratory and NASA. Ecometrica was launched with the assistance of the Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme, and has good links with relevant national government agencies such as Defra, DfID, OECD, UNEP, UNDP and the World Bank.

Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme (EPIS)

Ecometrica was launched through the Edinburgh Pre Incubator Scheme (EPIS) which was established by the University of Edinburgh in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise to promote and support innovation in Edinburgh and the Lothians. EPIS is designed to give people with a bright idea for a technology-based business the time and relevant resources to bring that idea to a stage at which it can be exploited in the marketplace. For more information about EPIS please see www.epis.org.uk.
